My main goal is to gain access to the files on the System 7.5.5 Mac so I can copy them quickly using the Ethernet port. You seem to be very knowledgeable and I would hope that you can still help me.

I must confess I am more a Windows user than a Apple user. I wanted to thank you for your time and willingness to help me. If you do not have StuffIt Expander on the old Mac, please post back. Once there, use an appropriate version of StuffIt Expander (4.0.1 and/or 5.5) for the decoding. hqx) unaltered until on the old computer.

If you have to transfer downloaded software (for instance, in order to install the aforementioned NetPresenz) to the old Mac, a CD-R could be used. As an example, the following web page could possibly be of interest in this context. You could then transfer files (locally) to many modern Macs or PCs via an Ethernet network. One method may be to install a small FTP server (like the now free NetPresenz) on the System 7.5.5 computer. If conventional file sharing cannot be used, there are alternatives. There are limitations regarding AppleTalk. To begin with, take a look at for information about file sharing. The goal is to transfer all data off the system before the disks no longer boot or the data becomes unreadable. I have looked at the AppleTalk settings on the Workgroup Server and it shows no zones available but has a node: 27 and network: 65280 defined.

I also have access to some older mac hardware and or PC hardware, hubs, switches, ethernet cables and cross over cables if that would make things easier.

I have a Mac Mini with High Sierra on it and I also have a Power Mac 12.1 with Mac OS 10.4.11 installed. The system was used as a file server a long time ago and what I would like is to be able to copy the files stored on it to a different Apple device. The add on Ethernet Card seems to be working for the lights are green when a network cable is plugged into it. The system has both an internal network card on the motherboard and an add on Ethernet card. It has also attached to it and still working two SCSI Hammer Sledgehammer devices. The Workgroup Server 8550/200 is currently running on System 7.5.5 and also running AppleShare File Server.
